Tattoo addiction

This presumption that such a thing as tattoo addiction exists is rarely based on the true facts. I can see how many people without tattoos would such a thing to be real. Tattoo enthusiasts sport a lot of body art on their skin, and are always eager to get more. So naturally, some might get the wrong idea.

There are to parts and major distinctive categories of factors that are mistakenly considered to cause tattoo addiction:
  • The first one would be the fact that some people get addicted to the tattoos themselves. For someone to be addicted to a substance or practice, that person has to be physically or emotionally dependent by that thing. People have their own individual reasons when getting tattoos; like the artwork itself, honoring someone or something, some enjoy the process and spending money on something that lasts. For whatever reason people get tattooed, is not because they can't live without it in an aggressive way.
  • Another misconception is that some got addicted to the tattooing procedure, or got addicted to the pain involved in getting the tattoos. The process makes the human body to release some high levels of endorphins to deal with the pain; this is compared to the "runner's high".
Usually people that have tattoos, love tattooed so it's only normal that they want to get more. This is used as a strong argument to prove that tattoo addiction exists. Well, if you love tattoos, it's likely that you would get tattoos for any reason you find appropriate.
Tattoo addiction, and other dark clouds that land over the tattoo community are just ideas and prejudice formed by people who have a problem with tattoos and the ones who wear them
